Chevrolet is returning to its roots with their first rear wheel drive sedan in seventeen years. It has been a long drought here in the States, but thanks to Holden the beast is back. GM has had success in the past with Holden, but that was with the Pontiac Motor Division with the G-8 and GTO.
The 2014 Chevrolet SS will receive a small face lift just to give the SS its own look. The 2014 Chevrolet SS will most likely be imported in from our friends down under. Some of the details are being kept under cover, but we do know that the car shares the short wheel base of the Holden Zeta. The 2014 Chevrolet SS will basically take over where the Pontiac G-8 left off here in the States. The 2014 Chevrolet SS will be the model for a longer wheel base sister car bringing the Caprice back as well. The SS will be more powerful than the Caprice that will also be prepared and serve once again for law enforcement.
Chevrolet promises that the new Chevrolet SS will be a real performance based car. Only one engine is available at this time and that is the 6.2 liter V/8 that is shared with the Camaro and Corvette. The 425 horse power mill will be backed by a 6 speed automatic transmission. Talk around the table at GM is that they have big plans in store for the SS. There are more powerful V/8s in the works and even manual transmissions.
This looks to possibly be a great time coming for GM, if all goes well in the sales department. The 2014 Chevrolet SS should come out of the box strong in the States because of the years of development on the car by Holden and remember it’s not their first rodeo.
