The 2013 SSC Tuatara – Challenger for the World’s Fastest

Car companies work hard to produce cars to meet the customers’ needs. Many companies strive to meet and exceed a fine line between value and reliability. Others may strive for luxury and performance at a affordable price. Last but not least we have a super car market where all around performance and styling is astonishing but comes at a price. With that in mind where does the 2013 SSC Tuatara fit in?

The 2013 SSC Tuatara builds off the tried and true Ultimate Aero with even more engineering and refinement. The new 2013 SSC Tuatara is truly a hyper car in all sense of the word and stretches technology to the limit.

Power comes from an in house built 423.6 billet aluminum twin turbo engine producing 1,350 horse power and 1,042 ft lb of torque at 6,800 rpm. A seven speed manual transmission with an option of seven speed SMG paddle shift sends all the anger to the rear 20×13 inch one piece carbon fiber wheels. Michelin 335 30 (YR) 20 stick the car to the tarmac and propel the Tuatara to a top speed of 276 mph with o-60 numbers in at 2.5 seconds.  The body is constructed in carbon fiber with the frame sharing carbon fiber and aluminum in its build. The car tips the scale at 2,750 lbs giving it a weight to power ratio of 2.0 lbs/hp and setting a new production car world record.

Standard equipment offered on the 2013 SSC Tuatara includes air, power windows, in cab front air lift, 10 speaker premium sound, 7 in DVD screen and navigation to keep things civilized. The Tuatara will come with a basic 2 year or 24 thousand mile warranty with the power train receiving the same. The car’s sister clocked 230 mph before the driver backed off due to weather conditions on a closed section of road with light snow falling, and sticking on the road. The SSC team is confident that they will reclaim the title as the worlds fastest with this car back from Bugatti in the near future.
